The AskKip plan terms.

These are the terms for buying and using an AskKip plan. They are written to be read. If anything here is unclear, email us and we will explain it in plain words.

Effective October 1, 2026. Version askkip-plan-terms-2026-10.v1.

Who we are

AskKip is made and sold by Tobie LLC, an Oregon company.

AskKip is a product of Tobie LLC, an Oregon limited liability company. When these terms say we, us or AskKip, they mean Tobie LLC.

You can reach us at help@askkip.com. Our postal address is on the Contact page.

What you are buying

The Kip app for your own computer, and a monthly plan to use it.

The plan gives you the Kip app on up to 2 computers (Windows and Mac) and the help described in the section called What the plan includes.

You are buying a subscription, not the app itself. When your plan ends, Kip stops working on your computers, and nothing else on them changes.

Price and payment

$11.99 a month plus tax where it applies, charged monthly until you cancel.

The plan costs $11.99 a month, plus sales tax where the law requires it. The tax is shown before you pay.

Payments are taken by Stripe, our payment company, from the card you give them. Your card details go to Stripe, never to us. We keep only what we need to run your plan: your email address, the plan status, and the last four digits and brand of the card, so you can recognise it.

The plan renews itself every month on the same date, and each month is charged in advance, until you cancel. You agree to this when you tick the box at checkout.

If a payment fails, Stripe tries again over a few days and we email you. If it keeps failing, your plan pauses until the card is updated. Nothing else happens to your computer.

Reserving before Kip is ready

If you reserved early, nothing is charged until Kip is delivered to you.

While Kip is still being finished, you can reserve a plan. Reserving saves your card with Stripe and charges nothing.

Your first payment happens only when Kip is delivered to you. We email you at least 7 days before that first payment, with the date and the amount.

You can cancel a reservation at any time before the first payment, in Your AskKip or by email, and you will never be charged.

If we do not deliver Kip within 12 months of your reservation, the reservation ends by itself and your saved card is not charged.

Cancelling

Cancel online or by email. Your plan runs to the end of the month you paid for.

You can cancel at any time, in two ways: in Your AskKip, choose Manage billing, then Cancel; or email help@askkip.com from the address on your plan. Cancelling online is as easy as signing up was.

When you cancel, your plan stays on until the end of the month you have already paid for, and no further payments are taken. We do not refund part of a month, except under the money-back guarantee below.

Once a year we email you a reminder of these terms, the price, and how to cancel.

Money back

Your first payment is refunded in full if you ask within 14 days.

If AskKip is not for you, email help@askkip.com within 14 days of your first payment and we refund that payment in full. You do not need to give a reason.

Refunds go back to the card that paid. Stripe says they take 5 to 10 days to appear.

What the plan includes

Up to 5 repairs a month, questions any time, on up to 2 computers.

A repair is one problem, from your description of it to the fix and a check that it worked. "My computer is slow" is one repair, even if Kip changes several things to fix it.

Your plan includes up to 5 repairs in each monthly period. Kip shows you how many you have left. Repairs you do not use do not carry over to the next month.

Questions do not count as repairs. A repair Kip could not fix does not count either.

Fair use: the plan is for one person and their household, on their own computers. We may pause a plan that is used to run a business, to serve other people for money, or by automated software, after telling you first.

What Kip does, and does not do

Kip explains, suggests, and asks before every change. You decide.

Kip looks at the problem you describe, explains what it finds in plain words, and suggests a change. Kip asks before making any change, and it makes the change only after you say yes. Where a change can be undone, Kip offers to undo it.

Kip cannot fix every problem, and we do not promise that it can. Some problems need a repair shop, a new part, or your internet company. When that is the case, Kip says so.

Kip is not a backup service. Keep your own copies of the photos, documents and other things you would not want to lose.

Kip will never ask you to pay anyone else, to buy gift cards, or to hand over passwords. If a message on your computer or phone asks for money or for remote access, stop and ask Kip about it first.

Kip is not for emergencies. If something is urgent, contact a person you trust.

Kip uses an AI model

Your description and the technical details Kip gathers are sent to an AI model. Your documents are not.

To explain a problem and suggest a fix, Kip sends your description of the problem and the technical details it gathers about that problem (for example, which programs start with your computer, or how much space is free) to an AI model run by our AI provider.

Kip does not send the contents of your documents, photos, emails or messages unless you choose to share a specific file with Kip for a specific repair.

Our AI provider does not use your information to train its models. What is sent, how long it is kept, and who can see it are described in the AskKip privacy notice.

Your part

Keep your email address reachable and keep your plan to your household.

We reach you by email: sign-in links, receipts, reminders and any notice about your plan go to the address on your plan. Keep it up to date in Your AskKip.

Your plan is for you and the people in your home. Please do not share your sign-in links or your plan with others.

Changes to the price, the plan, or these terms

We tell you 30 days before a change, and you can cancel before it applies.

If we change the price, what the plan includes, or these terms in a way that matters to you, we email you at least 30 days before the change takes effect, with a plain description of the change and how to cancel. If you keep your plan after that date, the new terms apply.

If we end AskKip, we tell you at least 30 days before, and we refund any month you have paid for but not used.

Our responsibility to you

We are responsible for the plan fees you paid us in the last 12 months.

We work to make Kip safe and careful: it asks before every change and offers to undo where it can. If something goes wrong because of us, we are responsible to you for up to the plan fees you paid us in the 12 months before the problem.

We are not responsible for loss of information that was not backed up, for problems Kip told you it could not fix, or for problems caused by other software, hardware, or your internet service.

Nothing in these terms takes away rights that the law gives you and that cannot be given up. Where the law gives you more than these terms do, the law wins.

If we disagree

Talk to us first. Oregon law applies. No arbitration clause, no class-action waiver.

If you have a problem with us, email help@askkip.com first. We answer within a few working days and we try to put things right.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, United States. These terms do not contain an arbitration clause or a class-action waiver.
